Hatteras Beaches
These beaches encompass Rodanthe on the Northern End to Hatteras on the Southern End. There are solid residents here, but most assuredly rentals all the way to the tip of Hatteras. What can set this area apart is it has been noted for the outdoor person who enjoys paddling, kiteboarding, windsurfing, surfcasting, boating, biking, and all-around simplicity that slows your pace! There are also campgrounds here as well! The Fall fishing tournament can boast almost one hundred teams at its height. It remains a choice well into November.
Rodanthe is the first town as you exit the bridge from Highway 12 S. There are still some larger homes here and waterfront be it sound or ocean continues to see rents. Chicamacomico Life Saving Station launched many a dory in its day.
Waves sit below Rodanthe. Neighborhoods oceanside have their own access to vacation homes to rent. You also have a KOA campground, which offers those who may want to bring their own home with them!
Salvo is for bikes, books/tablet, fishing, and taking in the bird life. While you can see modern twists for newer homes, there are still smaller cottages along the oceanfront with sandy paths that lead to the beach.
Avon, Buxton, Hatteras Village
Fishing competitions, charter boat communities, watermen, windsurfing competitions, beaches, sweet eateries alongside the saltboxes and eight-bedroom homes are an encompassing description. It is residents, but very much rental areas as well. The beaches turn into this area to create a hook, and that is what has landed buyers and sellers here. You can know your neighbor, or you can visit off-season and rent in season. Versus the upper beaches, the Hatteras beaches in their entirety really lend to a true cottage industry with homes spread north to south. The season here also sees Fall visitors into Thanksgiving as surfcasters are avid into November!
